Abstract
This study aims to explore the role of genderism and supremacy ideas on the acceptance of queer individuals in Christian young adults. Genderism supports the idea that people either have to be male or female and in our society people do have a feeling that their in-group is better than the out-groups. But there has been a shift in the attitude towards the gender minority individuals in the society. This study also focuses on the role that religion plays in queer acceptance. An explanatory-sequential mixed methods study was used for the study. 271 participants were selected for phase 1 (quantitative), and 8 participants who scored high were selected for phase 2 (qualitative). From the results, it was concluded that genderism and supremacy are negatively correlated. Among Christians, men showed more negative attitudes towards the queer community than females and also older adults tend to show a more negative attitude than young adults. The findings of the study aid in bringing a change in the attitude toward queer individuals providing a healthy environment for all.
