ABSTRACT
The use of information and communication technologies (ICT) is relevant to increase the effectiveness of foreign language learning and the development of professional skills of students. The purpose of the article is to clarify the content and main characteristics of information and communication technologies in the process of forming the communicative competence of young teachers of foreign languages at the university. For this purpose related concepts are substantiated, which are directly related to the main characteristics of modern ICT in the educational process – information, learning, communication, technology. The main characteristics of information are indicated – objectivity and subjectivity, completeness, relevance, adequacy, accuracy, reliability, value, and the connection of these characteristics with the training of young teachers
of foreign languages at the university are provided. Information and communication technologies are presented in a set of three main components – the theoretical foundations of ICT, methods and tools for solving educational problems. The role and significance of multimedia technologies and teaching instruments in the process of formation of communicative competence of young teachers of foreign languages at the university are noted. The advantages and disadvantages of the main software tools for the formation of communicative competence – computer testing systems, virtual dialogue systems, computer simulators, electronic textbooks, multimedia dictionaries and reference books, virtual laboratories and offices, etc. are clarified. The main types of communicative activities of young teachers of foreign languages at the university and the possibility of their implementation with the help of modern ICT are presented.
