Description
This piece of youth-led research investigates the involvement of young people in local planning decisions in Lambeth, to evaluate if and how the duty to involve under the Local Government and Public Involvement in Health Act 2007 is being implemented.
This case study revealed that young people were very interested in engaging with the council around local planning issues but that they were not currently aware of the appropriate mechanisms to do so. There was low awareness of specific youth engagement structures like the Youth Council. The traditional method of delivering consultation documents via post to each household was regarded as not inclusive enough of young people’s needs as these documents often lacked a targeted approach to grab young people’s attention.
