ABSTRACT
The article presents the results of a theoretical and empirical study of the peculiarities of the manifestation of mechanisms of psychological protection of medical college students. The article aims at studing main aspects of manifestation of psychological protection mechanisms intristic to medical college students. The empirical study enrolled 34 people aged 18 to 19. Collected data has been proceeded under the Plutchik- Kellerman “Life Style Index” research method (Life Style Index – LSI). The results of the theoretical analysis revealed that manifestations of psychological protection mechanisms involve all mental processes of the individual: feeling, perception, imagination, memory, thinking, as well as attention. Therefore, the presence of certain mechanisms of psychological protection can affect the perception of information and its critical interpretation. The outcomes of the empirical study highlighted peculiarities of the manifestation of psychological protection mechanisms among the students of the medical college are highlighted. It was indicated that such protective mechanisms as “compensation” (73.53%), “denial” (67.65%), “reactive formation” (58.82%) are also manifested in the studied sample. Basing the results of the empirical study, practical recommendations are provided for reducing the maladaptive impact of each of the mechanisms of psychological protection.
