The aim of this article is to explore the nature and intensity of political participation of the youth in an specific urban context of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (Canary Islands, Spain), the largest city in the Macaronesian archipelagos. After conducting a survey funded by the Youth Department of the City Council, results were obtained from 567 young respondents, with key details about their political participation. It was possible to outline a specific profile for the young people who most often engage in politics. It was observed that the young people who are most likely to participate in politics (both formally and informally) are those between 16-24 years old with a high level of education; an aspect that is important to highlight regarding the process of democratic reaffirmation.
