Description

ABSTRACT
Background: The relevance of the research is due to the challenges of the war against Ukraine, which caused the increase of migration and the need for new approaches to the psychological support and ensuring migration security. Self-trust is significant resource for youth adaptation, emotional stability and development of social attitudes, contributing to the preservation of the country’s intellectual potential.

Purpose: to develop and verify the program of the self-trust development optimization as a psychological resource ensuring the youth migration security during the war.

Design/Methodology/Approach: The authors used methods of psychological training and psychodiagnostic techniques (“Self-trust assessment”; “Self-attitude test-questionnaire”). The aim of the program: to implement systematic and targeted impact on the structural components of self-trust (cognitive, emotional-and-value, Behavioral) as a psychological resource ensuring youth migration security.

Findings: The program effectiveness was evident in statistically significant growth differences between the control and experimental groups in selftrust development criteria (self-interest, autosympathy, self-respect). Comparison of numerical data by Wilcoxon T-test (tcr= .01) revealed statistically significant changes in the experimental group (T= .005) and their absence in the control group (T= .640) for the variables “self-interest”; “autosympathy” (EG: T= .000; CG: T= .102) and “self-respect” (EG: T= .000; CG: T= .206). Indicators of self-trust in a variety of life domains also demonstrated a significant rise.

Practical implications: The obtained results can be used in psychological support and social adaptation of young people experiencing migration challenges in wartime.

Conclusions: The results demonstrate the effectiveness of the program.

Keywords: self-trust, migration security, self-attitude, self-esteem, achievement motivation, locus of control, self-efficacy, self-interest, autosympathy, self-respect, dignity.
