Description

Abstract

Education is one of the most prominent concerns of scholars in education and psychology since a long time ago, and a number of reasons have emerged that have led to this increased interest in the recent period, including the conditions that our country is going through and that led to the deterioration of the outputs of the educational system. Strategies in teaching and learning, including strategies for differential learning and cooperative learning, including deep and superficial learning, so this research came for the purpose of identifying deep and superficial learning strategy among a sample of students of the kindergarten department in the College of Education for Females and the College of Basic Education at the universities of Baghdad and Al-Mustansiriya for the academic year 2019-2020. To achieve this, the researcher adopted the deep and superficial learning strategies scale authored by Helmy Al-Feel 2019, which consists of (24) paragraphs. The availability of psychometric characteristics of the paragraphs (discriminatory strength, internal consistency) was verified, which were acceptable in light of the statistical criteria. The apparent validity of the scale was also verified by presenting it to a group of experts in psychology, measurement and evaluation, as well as extracting the validity of the construction. Stability was also extracted by two methods, the first by Cronbach Alpha, which amounted to (1,814) and the second by the mid-segmentation method, which reached (0.83). The results of the research showed that there is a significant difference between the deep and superficial learning strategy of the students.

The researcher believes that the strategies of deep and superficial learning may affect the style and method of college students, the extent of its flexibility in dealing with different study topics and life situations, their ability to perceive and control difficult situations, and their ability to provide alternative and multiple explanations and solutions to difficult situations, These abilities determine the amount of cognitive flexibility of the student undergraduate.
