ABSTRACT
The article defines the concept and essence of volunteering and its history of development and emergence. The experience of the volunteer movement and volunteer initiative is highlighted and the concept of volunteer tourism is delimited by their subsequent transformation into the category of military volunteering. The role of the active part of civil society in the search for methods of managing security under uncertainty and military threat is traced. World and Ukrainian examples are used. The study traces the path of transition from social to military volunteering both in theoretical and practical-personal dimensions; also based on the experience of the leading organizations of the volunteer community of Ukraine and the World. The experience of social and military volunteering in the real-time mode of hostile Russian aggression in Ukraine is taken into account. Emphasis is placed on the “phenomenon of unity, motivation and initiative” of various layers of civil society in the middle of the state. The importance of external support and actions of the active part of the entire world community, the civilized world, for the sake of Ukraine’s victory over the aggressor was determined. Emphasis is placed on the experience of foreign volunteering, which has become indicative and timely since the first days of aggression in Ukraine. The role of the Republic of Poland in helping Ukrainian refugees during the acute period of life threats is noted. The role of the Ukrainian military volunteer movement, individual organizations, and foundations in helping the armed forces of Ukraine and forced migrants to preserve the territorial integrity and sovereignty of our state is revealed. The need to unite Ukrainian, European, and World volunteer leadership in the fight against the destruction of values developed by mankind for the sake of preserving justice, democracy, freedom, and a stable society and peace is highlighted.
