About the Guest Editors: Dr. Vipin Vijay Nair

Dr. Vipin Vijay Nair is an Associate Professor in Behavioural Sciences with a Ph.D. specialising in criminology, forensic psychology, and cyberpsychology. He is an International Fellow of the International Fellowship of Restorative Justice Practitioners (IFRJP). His work integrates psychological, criminological, and technological perspectives, with a strong focus on victimology, financial crime, cyber-enabled offences, and restorative justice frameworks.

He has contributed to interdisciplinary scholarship through research publications, curriculum design (including Cyber Psychology and Neuropsychology of Criminal Behaviour), and editorial mentorship (e.g., Global Advances in Victimology and Psychological Studies). His current research explores psychological susceptibility in online scams and the intersection of restorative justice with emerging digital harms. He is actively engaged in global academic networks and conferences, including collaborations with institutions and scholars across the Global South

As part of the Internet Journal of Restorative Justice’s Special Issues, we would like to invite you to submit theoretical and practical contributions to our forthcoming Special Issue «Reimagining Restorative Justice in the Global South: Victim-Centric, Digital and Decolonial Perspectives» with Guest Editors: Dr. Vipin Vijay Nair.

The journal is seeking manuscripts that connect with the theme of addressing the Special Issues themes. All submitted articles that meet the special issues’ guidelines will go through a double-blind peer review process.

About the Journal

The IJRJ® is a double-blind, peer reviewed international journal that publishes articles of the highest standard from various areas of expertise including, but not limited, to restorative practices in schools, neighbourhoods, organisations and businesses, family matters and (youth) care, the criminal and juvenile justice systems, prisons and the community. We are also interested in pushing the normative and philosophical boundaries of restorative justice. The IJRJ® is committed to nurturing fresh thinking and innovation. Ultimately, we want to affect positive change and improve the experience and image of justice.

Special Issue Overview

Restorative Justice (RJ) has evolved as a transformative paradigm aimed at repairing harm, centring victims, and fostering community healing. However, much of the existing scholarship and practice remains rooted in Eurocentric frameworks, often overlooking the socio-cultural, political, and technological realities of the Global South.

At the same time, emerging forms of harm, particularly cybercrime, financial crime, and technology-facilitated victimization, challenge traditional restorative models. These harms are deeply psychological, transnational, and structurally embedded, requiring new interdisciplinary approaches.

This Special Issue seeks to reimagine restorative justice through Global South lenses, integrating victimology, criminology, psychology, and digital realities to push both theoretical and applied boundaries.

Aim of the Special Issue

This Special Issue aims to:
