Description
ABSTRACT
The purpose of the study is to identify factors influencing the formation of academic integrity among students of higher educational institutions.
The experiment was organised in such a way that conscientiousness, as a personal characteristic of young people, was investigated during the study process, and the level of academic dishonesty of students – after receiving a diploma. Factors con- tributing to the observance or violation of academic integrity were also studied. Analysis of scientific literature, synthesis, student questionnaires (study of the level of conscientiousness, academic dishonesty and additional questions), methods of mathematical statistics. 127 students (66 girls, 61 boys) took part in the experiment, whose success level was from 75 to 100 points on the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System scale. The students who took part in the study have quite high levels of conscientiousness.
In the process of research, it was found that there are not enough means to detect plagiarism or penalties for misconduct for the development of academic integrity. A comprehensive influence on the development of students’ self-awareness, teaching influence, training in self-organisation skills, setting priorities, rational time allocation is necessary. This will contribute, in addition to the development of academic integrity in various forms of education (face-to-face or distance learning), to young people’s acquisition of skills necessary for further employment.
It is recommended to use the obtained research data to optimise the educational process of students, in the development of additional modules that will ensure the development of academic integrity in students.
